The headline you see above….I get asked that question quite often.
It is always asked by someone VERY new to the cleaning business.
I can see how folks are worried about it. I mean when you are new it seems like a valid question (and it is). But the answer to that question is very, very simple. Ready?
Most cleaning companies STINK LIKE ROTTEN FOOD.
This is also the reason why your company can rise to be the cream of the crop VERY QUICKLY once you get started. All you need to do is WHAT YOU SAID YOU WOULD DO when getting hired.
If you can do that….life is easy. The beauty of all this is “following through” on your promises is not really hard to do. YET MOST COMPANIES DON’T (which is good for beginners because it will allow you to get hired).
The other reason why this is so powerful for you is because if you deliver fantastic service, you’ll never get fired. Customers know just how hard it is to find a diamond in the rough, so when they do, they cling to it and never let it go.
This means lots of money for those who understand this principle (and lots of hardship for those who don’t). So whenever you think “all the competition” out there has scooped up the good accounts, think again.
The companies you are going to go after are ALL run by people just like you and me. And what do people like you and me want….
Our Money’s Worth!
So when you give folks their money’s worth, you make them happy. When you make them happy, they keep you, they tell others about you which in turn makes you even more money.
So when you are out there trying to drum up business and you finally get in front of the person who can hire you…tell them “you will work hard to make them happy if you just give me the chance”. Then FOLLOW THROUGH. It’s that easy!

I am having trouble with advertising. I have made flyers and cards, but I’m not satisfied with the wording. Example: Why have two, three, even six people in your home? You never know who dind’t clean it, or who broke it. You only need one, me. Hi my name is Clara “BOSSIE” —–. I understand how precious your items are and I will see to it they are cleaned to you’r specifications. I go on to explain how I will clean. Should I leave off the first part, and just start with Hi? Or go a new way? Also how do I advertise on the wed.

Tom, great comments! Been in business for thirteen years as the owner/operator with a little part time help from others. Delivering a quality product with a quality service is the name of the game. I have only been asked to stop cleaning when someone was trying to cut their budget and most have called me back. Great advice and keep up the great work.

Hi Clara!
Trying to create advertising material that will make the phone ring can be tough at first, but fear not, as it is something you will get better at as you go along. One of the #1 things you must keep in mind when writing anything is the HEADLINE. A bad one loses the interest of the reader making them go away faster than you can say SNAP.
As practice, whenever you get a good flyer or sales letter in the mail (one that actually SELLS you) take a good look at it and ask yourself “what made me TAKE ACTION when reading this”. It will give you some insight probably. Anyway…I did a post on this general topic here… http://cleaning4profit.kinsta.cloud/2011/10/30/building-a-house-cleaning-flyer-that-gets-results/

I totally agree with this post…its all about our confidence and efforts..we should never loose hope and always be ready to fight with hurdles. So ones those who are about to start their cleaning service business should not be discouraged thinking this that who will hire me…opposite to this they must think positively as suggested in this post!Wonderful read!
