It’s the nearing the end of February. How are your “New Year Resolutions” holding up? Are you faithfully staying motivated to reach your goals?
Let’s face it, it can be tough.
When you are working on a long-term project, like starting or growing a business, it can be hard to bring boundless enthusiasm to the table every single day. Some days the tank just seems empty for one reason or another, at least that’s how it works with me.
I solve that by reading some motivational quotes when I’m down. This helps me jump start the engine that propels me forward each and every day. So I thought sharing some of the ones I’ve stumbled across recently would make for an entertaining post.
I’ll briefly add why I like each one and ask you to chime in with your own thoughts in the comments below. If you have your own favorites, which I’m sure you do, then simply post them for everyone to see. Ready? Here we go…
Motivational Quote #1:
“Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.”
Arthur Ashe
I love this one because it takes away all possible excuses.
Motivational Quote #2:
“If you fell down yesterday, stand up today.”
H. G. Wells
Not every day will end in success. That’s life! So pick yourself up and keep moving.
Motivational Quote #3:
“Things do not happen. Things are made to happen.”
John F. Kennedy
I read this and it just screams GET OFF YOUR BUTT AND TAKE ACTION.
Motivational Quote #4:
“We are taught you must blame your father, your sisters, your brothers, the school, the teachers – but never blame yourself. It’s never your fault. But it’s always your fault, because if you wanted to change you’re the one who has got to change.”
Katharine Hepburn
This is just self explanatory.
Motivational Quote #5:
“Well done is better than well said.”
Benjamin Franklin
The rubber hits the road when you take ACTION.
Well there you have it, some motivational quotes that you can have framed and put on your office wall (or where ever you want it). Now let me hear your two cents. Let me know which one is your favorite (and why), or share one of your favorites. Your choice!

Lately I like the saying fake it till ya make it. It’s been helping me with my transition into a business mindset and carrying myself as a business owner. That’s my best shot and at new me. I also think it’ll be important for me to dwell on your quotes 3 and 4… I just need that one account, that one opportunity to prove myself and make it happen!
Best!

Terry I heard a speech on Ted talks about that quote and the woman changed it up and said instead of faking it until you make it fake it until you ‘become’ it 🙂

Good stuff Tom!
I have a solitary quote stenciled on my office wall directly opposite my seat, borrowed from the motto of the Navy SEALS – “Who Dares Wins”
It keeps me abuzz every time I feel like slackening, or feel let down by cleaning accounts or employees not meeting the cleaning quality expected or anything.
Thanks for these 5…will consider.
Tom Watson says
Thanks for sharing that one Andrew! I never heard of that one.
