The other day I got asked a really good question. Basically someone asked what can be done while he waits for his first account.
This person just started, and is working hard doing direct mail regularly. He hasn’t gotten any bites yet, and he doesn’t want to sit around like the guy in the picture to the right.
He wants to know how can he be productive while this start-up phase plays itself out. After all, you can’t mail letters all day every single day. So I put my thinking cap on and starting reminiscing about what I did when I first started. I remember doing a little of everything to keep busy.
I put together a list of what can be done PLUS some posts that will help you get started.
1 – You can do some homework on joining networking groups.
2 – You can experiment with creating different flyers.
- How to create a good flyer
- Free janitorial flyer
- Example of housecleaning flyer
- Sales letter flyer combo for apartment complexes
3 – You can read books that would help you over the long haul.
4 – You can visit real estate offices to drum up business.
5 – You can create a list of possible fundraisers you could contribute to.
6 – You can advertise for free on Craigslist.
I hope this list is helpful to everyone out there who is just getting started. And I would like to again THANK the person who just sent this question in. It was a great question to bring up, not to mention a sure sign that you are going to be really successful in your new business!
